Our mission

Equipping believers for evangelism, discipleship, and biblical truth

The name BibleGears reflects our purpose: to help believers become spiritually equipped for the work of ministry (Ephesians 4:11–16). We exist to turn biblical knowledge into practical obedience — preparing Christians to share the Gospel with confidence, defend the faith, and disciple others in their homes, churches, workplaces, and communities.

We believe that faithful ministry begins with faithful doctrine. So rather than creating an entirely new theological library, we serve as a carefully curated guide. We organise publicly available resources from respected ministries into practical learning paths — topical roadmaps, witnessing guides, sequential study plans, and discipleship tracks — that make rich biblical teaching easier to navigate, while directing you to the original source for the full study.

Our aim is that every believer would faithfully:

• Serve Christ effectively within the local church

What we believe

The truths this ministry stands on

These are the essential convictions that shape everything we publish and every resource we choose to point you toward. They are not exhaustive — they are the foundation.

• The authority and sufficiency of Scripture The Bible is the inspired, inerrant Word of God — our final authority in all matters of faith and life, and entirely sufficient for salvation and godliness. It needs no supplement and submits to no higher court. 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21
• The sovereignty of God There is one God, eternally existing in three persons — Father, Son, and Holy Spirit — perfect in holiness, wisdom, power, and love, who reigns over all creation, history, and salvation. Isaiah 46:9–10; Matthew 28:19
• The sinfulness of man All people are created in God’s image yet fallen in Adam, sinful by nature and by choice, guilty before God and unable to save themselves by any work, merit, or religion. Romans 3:23; Ephesians 2:1–3
• The person and work of Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is fully God and fully man, born of a virgin, sinless in life, crucified as a substitute for sinners, bodily raised from the dead, ascended, reigning now, and returning in glory. John 1:1–14; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4
• Salvation by grace alone, through faith alone, in Christ alone Salvation is the gift of God, received by repentance and faith, never earned by works — so that no one may boast. Those God saves, He keeps, and He changes. Ephesians 2:8–9; Titus 3:5
• The ministry of the Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, gives new birth, indwells every believer, illumines Scripture, sanctifies, and equips the church for service. John 16:8–14; Romans 8:9–17
• The church Christ is building His church, expressed in local congregations where the Word is preached, the ordinances observed, and believers are shepherded. No website, ministry, or media can replace it. Matthew 16:18; Hebrews 10:24–25
• The call to holy living Grace does not lower God’s standard; it supplies the power to pursue it. Obedience is the fruit of salvation, never its root. Ephesians 2:10; 1 Peter 1:15–16

How we curate

Our editorial standards, stated openly

Publishing our criteria is part of being trustworthy. Here is exactly how resources get onto this site — and how we handle material that belongs to someone else.

What we select

• Expository fidelity — the teaching explains what the text actually says, in context.
• Doctrinal alignment — it agrees with the convictions stated above.
• Clarity for the intended audience — a new believer can follow it, or we place it later in a path.

What we write, and what we don’t

Our own contribution is the scaffolding: orientation writing, path sequences, topic indexes, discussion questions, and practical tools. The doctrinal substance lives at the source ministries — principally the expository teaching of Grace to You, and the accessible question-and-answer library of GotQuestions.org. We add order, context, and on-ramps — we do not add teaching authority. As with any teaching, we ask you to read prayerfully and to test all things against Scripture, the final authority.

How we handle other ministries’ work

We audit ourselves

Every external resource on this site is recorded with its source, its canonical link, the basis on which we use it, and the date we last verified it. We check every link quarterly, and re-read the published copyright policies of the ministries we reference twice a year. Saying so publicly is part of the point: stewardship that no one can inspect isn’t stewardship.

Which Bible we use

Our translation, and why

Scripture quotations across this site are from the English Standard Version (ESV). We chose it deliberately, for two reasons.

First, the ESV is a formal-equivalence, “essentially literal” translation — it aims to carry over the actual words and grammar of the original Hebrew, Aramaic, and Greek as closely as clear English allows. For a ministry devoted to doctrine and to Scripture’s own authority, that fidelity to the text matters. It also remains readable enough for a new believer, which suits the paths we build here.

Second, the ESV keeps us in step with the teaching we point you toward. The expository ministry of Grace to You and John MacArthur flows from formal-equivalence translations — principally the New American Standard Bible, with the ESV closely supported alongside it in their own resources. Because verse-by-verse teaching so often turns on the precise wording of a text, quoting from the same translation family means the Scripture you read on this site and the teaching you study at the source will read consistently, rather than pulling against one another.

We hold this as a considered preference, not a rule for everyone. Other faithful translations have their place, and we thank God for the labor behind them all. Our aim in choosing one is simply coherence — that every part of this site, and every resource it bridges to, would point you to the same unchanging Word.
